its all modules for all versions.

the amount compatible with Drupal 6 is about 4400. (lies, lies & statistics
;-)

Drupal breaks compatibility between versions. It is a deliberate choice, that
if the API can be improved (drastically) it is worth breaking the code. Its a
design principle they use.

And it prevents things like the total overhaul Joomla had between 1.0 and 1.5.

I my opinion (and i did contribute to Joomla in the past), Drupal is the more
mature system for more serious websites. It is extremely powerful and scales
very well (once you need it). It has a very nice API that allows for almost
any extention you can think of and allows for things to work together without
knowing how the other end works.

It has a very steep learningcurve as well. We took it, and are greatful we
made that choice.

But by all means, pick your own.

BTW, Daniel, for anything that requires PHP or is more than 5 pages, you are
absolutely right. Doing stuff in Notepad++ should a complete exception to your
normal work as a webdeveloper, for which you use a CMS of choice.
