Joseph,

Here is a map. http://osm.org/go/wioeVO~Yb--

When you go ask for Santos he is the Internet Cafe Manager.

One thing to note they are running Ubuntu 10.04 which has the older Gnome 2
Interface.

How ever several projects exist for example Mate or Cinnamon which allows you
to run this on Ubuntu 12.04 also.

Namuwongo near IHK. They are attached to a restaurant called Little Donkey. The
owner is unfortunately out of town but there should be someone there who can
give you a quick tour.

Jet Internet Cafe has been using Ubuntu for years and people don't seem to have

My main Issue is an easy to use graphical User Interface. Some customers(users)
won't ask for help. They'll just leave the place with a biased opinion about the
OS/'Computers not working /are hard to use'
Probably you guys are bright and were able to figure out the navigation tricks
but for me and some other guys it was completely hard .Keep in mind the fact
that i didn't ask around.

Joseph for your case i think its something to with adopting the
environment(platform distribution) and i guess ubuntu still does the best GUI
among other open-source distributions.
Your cafe attendant should be ready to help and support users basically those
who seem to be totally green in this environment.
Please go open-source

Thanks for the post as I was also planning on looking for a cyber cafe mgt
system i hadn't started as i hadnt gotten the funds as yet.Was planing on doing
it 100% open source.
Sorry for cross listing but one question i have is that is there any Open
Source OS that 'goes easy' on a an average Windows user-one that is not
interested so much in computers or is an ardent addict of windows.
I would like one that anyone can easily use .I went to a cyber cafe running
Ubuntu 11 on their machines but even as someone used to XP/Win7 i found it hard
to switch between tabs or even applications sadly, the place closed down.
Would gladly appreciate help on available very easy to use and manage desktop
evironments or atleast something similar to windows.

Hi All

Am systems admin at one of the colleges at MUK university. Am an ardent
supporter of open source software. As such, we have been able to convert all
the students computer labs from windows to Ubuntu. Great stuff!
However, there is this one lab in our main library, where we would want usage
regulated based on time; a student sits on PC for a specified time say 45
minutes, when that time elapses, they are automatically logged off just like in
an Internet cafe.
When we were still Windows, we were using an app called Butterfly (from
dsmagic); client-server billing and time management software.
Can you guys help suggest something similar (client-server) for Linux? We are
running on Ubuntu.

Thank you
