You can create shortcuts "Excel", "Word", "Fireofox" on the desktop to help, with "appropriate" icons. You can also put an XP desktop theme picture. You'll be surprised by how a dress in fashion goes a long way in making any woman look acceptable, even appealing.
I learned these tricks because my cybers' computers were too low spec to run KDE smoothly. I think KDE should be easier to use. Otherwise, I'll be the first one to complain about Unity, Vista, Windows 7 and even MacOS look, feel and UX. I think them necessary evils. I do enjoy Gnome, Windows XP, and now Windows 8, though.
