A persons accent, skin colo(u)r - we are part of the commonwealth ladies & gentlemen - or culture says nothing about abilities. An application in docx format DOES !!! It makes even less sense in Uganda as most windows users are using office 2003 and can't read docx.

I liken that to disqualifying an applicant based on his/her accent, skin color or culture. In the states all job search websites expect uploads in .doc format so naturally majority of job seekers have resume in .doc format. It has nothing to do with actual computer skills. Even my resume is in .doc format and that didn't prevent me from getting the position I currently have.
