I'd just like to quickly point out we've been discussing something 
similar lately as part of #409 (https://github.com/lxde/lxqt/issues/409) 
and a corresponding PR (https://github.com/lxde/lxqt-panel/pull/110).
Both jubalh and me think that in German a *country*-specific translation 
doesn't make sense at all. Yet Luis Pereira seems to insist on having a 
'_DE' file as well and I don't understand why (having only the 
*language*-specific file works well / no build problems or the like).

Side note 1: Actually, I don't believe that country-specific 
translations make any sense at all in LXQt. I mean, the UI is using 
nothing but technical terms. Have any country-specific differences 
really to be expected here? KDE doesn't have this either.

Side note 2: I don't understand why all those *.desktop files of LXQt 
panel aren't handled via Pootle at all.
