Hi all.

The issue with iTunes not detecting the iPhone and other devices I have had as
well. My issue was a bit more complex due to having development tools Xcode
installed.

If you only have iTunes and no Xcode. Then what John stated is correct. Install
the full copy of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes over the top of your
current installed version. Then it should all work fine.

If you have Xcode installed. Then you have to completely uninstall Xcode first
then reinstall iTunes. To uninstall Xcode you have to:

Go to terminal and open up the shell.

change directories to /applications/utilities.

Run:

sudo /Development/Library/uninstall-devtools -mode=all

Wait for a while and you will eventually have to reload the computer.
