Wow. I was all set to send you some helpful hints, Bob, but MacDuff beat me
to it. And then some. He's put a lot of effort into his research, so I won't
duplicate it, but please follow his instructions to the letter and we'll see
where that gets us.

I was under the impression, from an earlier post, that you were able to
successfully connect from OS X, but that seems not to be the case (it's
unlikely that both apps would be having the same non-resolving-host issue at
the same time). Here's a simple test (after you follow MD's suggestions, of
course): Connect manually through OS X's Internet Connect application and
make sure you are connecting that way before launching your email app /
browser. Keep the Internet Connect window open so you can see it. If the
computer tries to start Classic in order to connect, something is screwy but
we may have isolated the problem.
