There's also a chance that it has nothing to do with your OS, but more so
with either the modem itself or Sympatico's servers.

For one particular type of modem used by Rogers, you have to turn *on*
AppleTalk, restart/shutdown before you can move the cable modem to another
computer. What turning on AppleTalk supposedly does is cause the modem to
'release' the computer's MAC address (the _unique_ physical ethernet address
of your computer... yes, there is no such thing as "anonymous" surfing)
allowing it to establish a link to a new MAC address.
