The real beauty in MacOS X is, without question, the UNIX underpinnings. It has truly opened up the operating system to a whole new swath of users that would have never, never considered buying a Mac before -- �bergeeks.
Take a look on Slashdot <http://www.slashdot.org/>, one of the sites many consider to be the pulse of the tech world (and not the CNET tech world -- I mean the guys who make all the s**t work that CNET uses and reviews). Before, the only time Macs were mentioned was in an equation of this sort: Macs == crap for stupid users. Now, there's even a *section* for apple <http://apple.slashdot.org/>, and you hear more grudging admiration for the OS than would ever have been imagined before. (Although, don't mention the speed of the hardware in the forums. :-) Literally overnight, Apple became the largest installed base of a UNIX-based operating system when it released MacOS X -- and accomplished what Linux could never quite pull off. For all the grumbles about widget x or dock y in OSX, the interface is far more consistent than any distro/interface on the Linux side. Combine this with the new hardware available in the xServe/xRaid lineup (please, please release an xServe with redundant powersupplies.....), and you've got some real potential in enterprise installations.
