No, classic mode *is* running the classic Mac OS on a BSD *nix machine. The difference between classic mode under OS X and a Mac emulator on a non-Apple Unix box or Virtual PC on a Mac is that there is absolutely no need to emulate a different CPU. In that respect, it's like running a DOS session in Windows.
