I've ordered a DVD burner. The specs say I am allowed to change the country code only five times, including the initial setup. This would indicate, to me, that homemade DVDs are country/region specific. However, the way around country specific DVDs is a firmware hack for a specific DVD player. Most hacks are as simple as pushing a few buttons on the remote --- really! Manufacturers aren't going to build completely different machines for different countries -- they will use the electronics to limit to a specific country. The firmware hack for one of my machines was "Go to Menu. Open Tray. Press 5-6-7-Enter on remote. The tray will close. Machine is now region-free." Popped in an Australian DVD, no problem. To learn more about the hacks to whichever country/region code you're wanting, or to even change your DVD player so that it is region-free, check out the links via <http://www.videohelp.com>. The information there can also be used when considering a DVD player purchase. Sov -- What's the difference between Vietnam and Iraq?
