Not necessarily � the fact that the system sees the memory doesn�t guarantee that it is totally to spec and doesn�t have any faulty chips in it, and the boot-up memory checks are fairly cursory.
When an application launches and requests a certain amount of memory the memory will be allocated to it, but in most cases it won�t all be actually used (accessed) until the application actually needs the memory. This would be particularly the case with something like Photoshop when it is set to have a large memory partition. So just because an application launches which allocates a large amount of memory doesn�t mean that the memory which is allocated is all OK. I would suggest that you try something like Newer Gauge Pro (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macos/15583) to test the memory. There are also other applications available which test memory, but Gauge Pro is very straightforward and does a far more extensive test than the boot-up test. If my memory serves me right you have to boot with virtual memory switched off to use it.
