When you say b&w I think you meant to say Beige G3. I agree with pretty much
all the comments here � the Desktops were great from the 7200 up. The 7100
was a pain because you had to take out the drive tray to upgrade memory,
which involved undoing screws and unplugging cables if you wanted to get
decent access. The Towers up until the 9600 and 8600 were similarly a bit of
a pain � the 8600 and 9600 were great in terms of industrial design, but for
some reason I always found that the performance wasn�t as good for the 9600
as for the 9500 with a similar processor.

Of course the B&W G3 onwards were a real revolution in industrial design,
taking the initial direction of the 86/9600 and running with it.

The b&w use exactly the same case design as the 7200/7500/7600/7300 IIRC.
The 7100's case is pretty similar externally too, though I forget what it
looks like inside... hmm looking at the one under my desk, fairly different.
