Hello folks,

In coming weeks I intend to ditch dial-up and go to broadband; I'm also intending to go wireless as well. Sadly I am a complete ignoramus with regards to networks, and any answers to some of these questions, as well as other top tips, would be warmly welcomed.

- Airport will provide me with the wireless, but I'd still need to buy an additional cable modem/DSL modem. Is this right?

- If it is right, I'd be better off buying a separate ADSL router. That would do both jobs in one box. Is that right?

- Should I get the hardware delivered first, then set up the broadband, or the other way round? Does it matter?

- I've got an older iBook that will only accept plain old Airport cards. Assuming I can get hold of one, it will work fine with an Airport Extreme base station or indeed a third-party wireless router gadget. Wouldn't it?

- Some people have said plus.net is good. Another friend recommended Pipex. Any other favourite service providers?

Much ta

Giles
