Group I need your help to point me in a direction to clean up several
"strange" happenings.

I am running OS X 10.2.3 on a dual 800. I still use OS 9 on all the other
machines but I am wanting to migrate and felt I should begin with just one
to see how I get along. I am having many strange things happen.

IMic: I have plugged into this machine a Kensington 4 port hub, and
Harman/Kardon Sound Sticks. When I used the hub and the sound sticks all
was fine. When I added the iMic later then each time I would boot the
machine there would be NO sound for I found the default "output" would
continue to change to the iMic. Each time I would change to the sound
sticks, each time it would return to the iMic on the next start. I had to
remove the iMic.

Kensington Turbo Mouse Pro: I added a Kensington Turbo Mouse Pro
(wireless). I downloaded the latest drivers and I found that I could get it
working if I toyed around with where the USB plugs were attached. The
Soundsticks would not work unless they were plugged into a specific port on
the machine. If I used the other port on the back of the box they would not
work. If I plugged them into the back of the monitor they would not work,
if I plugged them into the hub, they would not work. The same with the
Turbo Mouse. There was just one port that I could use on the back of the
machine. The monitor then had to receive the keyboard and mouse from Apple.

Each time I would start the machine the Superdrive door would open on
booting. Every time. I went to the knowledgebase and found something from
Apple that said that some C.D. trays would open if they had other than an
Apple mouse or if a third party trackball was added. I removed the
trackball and the problem stopped. Any solution to this for I sure love the
trackballs?

Internet Explorer: I have used IE on this machine for a long while but when
I updated to 10.2.3, and brought IE to the current version from Microsoft's
site I now cannot change the default site that IE opens when booted. I can
change it, but it will continually return to one that I have deleted over
and over. I don't know what to throw away to try and get this to work
right.

Dialogue Box: when you shut down the machine there is always a dialogue box
that ask are you sure you want to shut down. I have looked everywhere and I
can't find where to have this turned off. Can this be eliminated?

Norton Systemworks: I possibly need a new C.D. for this problem, but if so,
then the download system doesn't work as it should. I decided to run
Norton's SystemWorks 2.0 to see if this would find anything. I had
previously gotten the complete updates with "Live Update". When I began it
said I had major problems with the b-tree structure and I should use the
C.D. When I boot from the C.D. it went into OS 9.2 and when it ran through
all it's bells and whistles it said all was fine. When I then booted into
10.2.3 from the machine and then ran Norton's again it still said there was
the major problem. Is the only solution to this one to get a new C.D.? If
so, then the live update sure has it's limitations in this situation.

This is like the ingredients of a cake. Sorry to have so much but there
seems to be many things that don't work as you would expect. Thanks in
advance for your help.
