This is pretty much what I've done in the past. This time, though, when I go to the Sputum^H^H^H^H^H^H Spectrum website, there is no package anywhere close to what I have. To wit: if you want the 200+ channel lineup [1], they only bundle that with 200Mbps internet, and then the price is higher than the recent price increase. So... they've done the standard "your bundle doesn't exist anymore" game to avoid such phone calls. > Check to see if AT&T will be putting fiber in your area anytime soon before > you decide to give TWC the boot. How do I do this? Poking around on the internet revealed only yes/no answers, but no 'when will it be here' answers. > If you stay, eliminate all the stuff you absolutely don’t need. Sadly, I think sports is the one and only cable-loyal audience, because it is the one audience that wants things live instead of delayed or stockpiled for binging. ESPN3 streams some games, but the quality of the stream is (likely purposefully) pretty bad relative to watching the game on TV. Also, cutting the TV channels down doesn't save much money (~$10/month) unless the cut goes all the way down to the same channels that could be accessed with a decent HD antenna. With TWC, a large chunk of the bill comes from various random required charges that are needed to use the service they are selling. (Akin to having a 'gasoline distribution charge' for using a pump at the gas station... because it allows lying about the price of the product being sold.) Even the download is more than TWENTY TIMES what I had before. That the service is cheaper is nice. I'm not sure what I would use the speed for, because I backup my computers locally (and have drives outside of the house in case of disaster) rather than on the Cloud [3]. As fancy as I get is streaming an Amazon Prime movie every other month or so. > I am the second install they had in my area and they had to come out a few > times to get it all right, but they bent over backwards to make sure I was > happy. Cheers, Bill [1] Of which 8 to 10 get watched. [2] Oh s**t. I just gave a bad idea to the ethically-challenged petroleum companies (oops, redundancy). [3] Paranoia is the main reason. I'm not even sure I have good reasons other than a general distrust of the security of cloud services.
