Try

ifdown eth0
ifup eth0

or
sudo dhclient eth0

Btw. ifconfig is deprecated and I recommand to use ip instead
(http://serverfault.com/questions/458628/should-i-quit-using-ifconfig)

ip a

would be the new command to show the IP addresses, it's even shorter to type
