I won’t be talking to anyone for the next week after this. :( Yeah it’s amazing what propaganda is capable of. Like that image of thousands of immigrants crossing a European border. Now I will reconcile myself to the idea that we’re alone. Maybe we’ll manage, maybe we won’t, but it is imperative that we get a more centre-left, liberal government in power at the earliest opportunity, because this is going to be one hell of a ride for all of us and it will not withstand the hard-right neoliberal orthodoxy.
I pity Scotland. We betrayed them. They chose to join us in solidarity when they had every reason to leave us, and then we tore them out of the EU. We’re monsters! Anne, that’s absolutely appalling. You were refused at point of need for a kidney transplant by the NHS? Damn those French, so efficient and socially competent—if a little too Islamaphobic for my taste. My own experience with the NHS (but not for a transplant) has been truly wonderful, so your story makes me sad. Now we’re out, presumably we won’t see any more of that wonderful efficiency from across the channel.
