Would you already have an LDAP server (for testing)?

Yes, but it seems to be dead (no activity since a long time). I used
phpLDAPAdmin to create a test address book here.

It was somewhat useful (I read it a long time ago) but it's old and I
hoped to discover that there is finally some standard schema for the shared
address book entries. Unfortunately it looks like a vain hope and the best
solution in practice is probably to use mozillaOrgPerson one. Of course,
ideal would be to support flexible mappings between address-book fields and
the LDAP attributes, as many other schemas are used too (Outlook uses a
similar but different one, evolutionPerson is different again and I don't
know what does KMail/KContact use yet).

Anyhow, it doesn't seem that difficult finally, it's just that I was
shocked to discover -- and spent a few hours trying to convince myself that
it wasn't true -- that there was no standard for this.

VZ
