If you want your mail delivered, you have to filter out the spam, even if it's forwarded. Michael's suggestions about pulling the mail with POP or IMAP rather than pushing it with SMTP are also good. For some of my users, I run the forwarded mailt through spamassassin, send it with SMTP if the score is low, put it in a folder for later POP pickup if the score is high.
