Kenneth Towe is entitled to his own opinion as to the reasonableness of my transfer scenario, but I have already addressed his repeated objections. Nevertheless, it does work, and we are presumably at a standoff unless someone else tries the experiment. So I guess we'll have to simply agree to disagree. His challenge to "come up with a PLAUSIBLE story FIRST for why the Vinland Map has its very peculiar two-line ink" is for many participants over probably many years.
David Bradbury seems to have something in the works justifying his preference of the mid-50's for his putative forger, and I will look forward to seeing it. But I can't see the Mellon family getting mixed up in anything that might eventually backfire criminally on their reputation for a measly few hundred thousand dollars or less. Shrewd operators yes, but risky sponsors of forgery, no. The same for the scholars at Yale.
I want to remind everyone that this thread was started by Jacquelin Olin proposing a new conference. There has been some tentative interest off-line in sponsoring such a conference. We know from these recent exchanges of at least two (probably three counting Kirsten) eager presenters. It usually takes a year or so to get something like that together.
Meanwhile, I am entertaining myself with the Rosetta Stone Latin course, expecting to apply it to some research on medieval cryptography in some specific European libraries.
