A few hours ago I wrote that I shared Len Berggren's experience and that:

 http://www.icc.cat/web/content/cartoteca/ptolomeullibre/Default.html

wouldn't load on my Mac. However, before visiting the site I had
forwarded the announcement to Classics-l and then followed up with a
caveat about the viewing issue and two people responded there that on
their Macs, one with 10.4 and another with 10.6, they had no trouble.
My daughter is home for USian Thanksgiving and she checked on her
MacBook running the same version of 10.5 I have on my iMac and she was
able to view the atlas, so this appears to be one of those very rare
instances where the specific Mac hardware you're using makes a
difference. If you're using a Mac and want to use the site, by all
means try and you might well be lucky enough to have it work.

As I was writing this, Vladimiro Valerio chimed in to say it works on
his Mac as well, so perhaps Professor Berggren and I are in a (very
small?) minority.
