Hello All,

I am trying to create a regions map of Europe without much success. I started off
with lat lon coordinates of points which define coastline and country boundaries.
With MapBasic I have joined up all the relevant points with single lines. At this
stage the map looks fine and appears as it should. I then selected everything and
used 'combine' to create a single polyline. This also seems to work ok. However,
when I then choose 'convert to regions' it doesn't manage to convert properly. It
can't seem to manage to cope with points where three lines meet, i.e. where country
boundaries meet the coast or each other. At these points it puts in straight diagonal
lines to other similar points which cut accross the region. I can get around this by
removing the country boundaries so that I am just filling the area inside the
coastline but I would like to keep the country boundaries if possible. Can anyone
tell me what I am doing wrong or another way to achieve this ? I could cre!

!
ate a MIF file of regions direct
ly but it would take me ages to find out the start and end co-ordinates of each
country boundary since I have 84000 points in total.

Thanks in advance

Elliot.
