Oh boy... labels again. And again and again. Seems MapInfo has
never got this entirely right. There's always been something
about labeling on the users' whine list all the way back to
version 2.0!
I have to do a little presentation on labeling next week at the
Rocky Mountian MapInfo Users Group meeting, and since I can't
duplicate this behavior, and have never encountered it myself,
I'd sure like to know how to cause this to happen.
Does this "shifty labels" problem occur with labels set into
their own layer, or is it just when you use the autolabel
function? Have the individual labels that lose their place been
manually adjusted or are they pure autolabel settings? Are you
using normal TrueType fonts (Arial, Times Roman... not Dingbat
Gollywumpus or other weird hacks)? Do always open your maps at
the EXACT same scale as they were when you set the labels?
(Labels WILL shift a bit at different scales--you must set them
at the scale you plan to print, or WYS is not WYG. This is
because TrueTypes have to be fit to integer point sizes, and tiny
sizes are very sensitive to map scale variations) But what could
be the common denominator on this problem?
