We use this method regularly with census data. Save the csv file with a
.txt extension, then open the file in MapInfo (File/Open table and select
Delimited Ascii as the file type). You will then be asked to select the
delimiter (tab or other) and the character set (normally the default
Windows US and W. Europe). If you have used the first row for column
headers make sure you check the Use First Line for Column Titles box. The
file will then open in a browser. Use file/Save Copy As... to save it as a
MapInfo table.
