Marv belittles hundreds of millions of dollars as "chicken feed." He must be pretty well set! Such amounts are not obtained by simple bribes for a license or a legislative vote, the typical corruption of Western politicians.
Marv asks, "What is the evidence that the personal wealth of the leading Chinese state and party officials derives from the earnings of the state corporations they control?" Again, I refer him to Desmond Shum's Red Roulette. Whether any one of them is a more or less active or passive member of the group that rakes surplus value off corporations, they are capitalists. It has been implicit here that the state corporations are at the central government level. There are also many state corporations at the province and city levels. The ties in the joint ventures between these firms and private firms are another manifestation of capitalism that crosses Marv's artificial state-private division. In his questions Marv essentially demands to show that Chinese capitalist structures mirror Western ones. He cannot face the more fundamental facts that the Chinese economy is a market economy, that state firms operate in it, and that government officials in the firms and ministries and top Party offices participate in running Chinese capitalism as well as grabbing their goodies along the way. And so Marv tries to evade the consequence: Chinese monopoly capitalism is globally expansive of necessity, just as Lenin showed for England and France and Germany.
