It's entirely subjective whether one agrees with those who say the Chinese system is a form of socialism or a form of capitalism or is dominated by a state sector whose direction is still unclear. But hopefully the exchanges have contributed to a more informed understanding of these three schools. More concerning are the underlying practical implications. They shape our view of the current trade war initiated by the US against China and how we would position ourselves if it were to escalate into an unintended military confrontation between the two sides.
