The CPUSA did not agree to one United Front Coalition. Certainly not after their failed June-August 1968 SMC Split and that spread across many local city based coalitions.
Only a few exceptions over the remaining years from 1968 to May 1, 1975, when the CPUSA came to march with the SWP led antiwar coalition groups (as Nov. 15, 1969, national protest in Washington DC and San Francisco and the then April 24, 1971 protest in Washington DC and Los Angeles - and held separate October 13, 1971, to the November 6, 1971 SWP led mass protests in six cities. But the rest of the national protests in 1972 to 1975 - there were no real coalitions with the CPUSA then active in the democratic party clubs promoting McGovern as their better area to seek members and supporters. I was active in the Vietnam Antiwar Movement from Fall 1964 to the Vietnamese military victory on April 30, 1975. So I Know the realities of how 1968 led to a formal split and never reunited to overcome sectarian politics and party building - than advancing and deepening opposition to the USA Empire (with military cohesion failing as the main reason to not continue with that war then lost.
