It would be great to pin point term definitions in a central spot of
reference like the MH Glossary Wiki page.
The MH Glossary wiki page does not have entries for Recordings,
Workflows or Mediapackage
(but now I know about the Tobiash!)
http://opencast.jira.com/wiki/display/MH/Glossary
...Here's a rough shot on terms I need better clarification on...
Episode: An episode represents a single recording event and the
product of the event within a larger series of associated episodes.
For instance, each lecture in a course can be represented by an
episode. This series of episodes represent the captured lectures of
the course. An episode is associated to a recording's mediapackage
(is this true?).
Series: (represents a(n ordered) group of episodes? )
Mediapackage: An XML document (... a concept...) that encapsulates
[state static] metadata about one or more recordings. Metadata can
include contributors, a tile, relevant dates, track information and
identifiers, and lots more. Additional information: http://opencast.jira.com/wiki/display/MH/MediaPackage+Overview
Workflow: An XML document that encapsulates an ordered list of
operations. A workflow is assigned to a recording event (i.e. an
episode?). Workflow operations can include encoding, analyzing and
distributing. The recording and its associated mediapackage could be
updated at any step in the progression of the workflow.
Recording: [noun versus verb?] A concept that represents an
anticipated or existing audiovisual file. In MH, a recording has a
companion mediapackage that describes the audiovisual file.
recording event (I just made this up) - The point in time where an
event is first captured into an audiovisual file.

Nils Birnbaum commented on MH-8695:
-----------------------------------
Intresting topic. We call it Recordings, adopters can searcht with
this term the wiki, mailing list archive and other sources and they
won't find much informations because we call it workflows or
mediapackages when we talk or write about. If they mail on list the
first answer will contain smth like. "we have no recordings, we
call it mediapackages ...". So Recordings, Worlflows or
Mediapakages are possible names for this tab. The question brought
up in context of several discussion ins the last couple of week
was: "How can we introduce the Matterhorn-Therms to adopters,
admins, ...? "
