All you need to do is hold down the option key while launching the 
Memory Control Panel.  It opens up a new option to disable memory 
testing during startup.  :)

I run a G4 400 and 10.1.4  was soooo slow.  Jaguar was like a totally 
new system.  Particularly aqua's speed.
