Hi, In addition to all the suggestions presented make sure you are using the file ending in .ova (http://www.mayan-edms.com/downloads/Mayan%20EDMS%20v0.13.ova) which is a preconfigure virtual appliance and not the previous attempt which was just a virtual disk image (ending in .vdi.zip).
