Take a look at an R50, it may or may not have features you like that the
R55 lacks.
I chose to get the R50 over the R55 for a few reasons:
1. Picked up an R50 for $199 refurbished as opposed to the $349.95 tag
for the R55 (new)
2. The R50 allows you to record *while* charging, where the R55 does not
3. The jog dial for titling is very handy on the R50
Things I like about the R55 that the R50 doesn't have:
1. Smaller size
2. Back lit remote
It's all a matter of preference and what you're going to use the unit
for. For me, I can never keep the R50 fully charged all the time, and I
never know when I'm going to use it to record. So, the ability to use
the charger while recording was a must have feature being that I don't
take kindly to the unit shutting down during a recording session becasue
of battery failure.
