Biggest technical difference: Qt & standard native Linux env. vs. Java sandbox (in Dalvik vm, + android specific way of doing everything). That, and the fact that Android has production-quality phones people can buy already.
Generally hashing out the merits is perhaps off topic to this mailing list, since it quickly degenerates to flaming, trolling and "personal opinions".
