Terry,
Yeah, I like the Toyos, but I fear there are much better things out there to
be had. If mileage is high on your list of priorities when shopping for
performance tyres, then these are great, but at this stage I'm willing to
trade some mileage for more grip and better response. Mine are just not
waring out. Even after track days and two trips to the drags! And it's not
like they're bad tyres. They're not.
I've driven a few cars now with G-grids on them and I've always been very
impressed with the turn-in response. It just makes the car's steering feel
so much more precise. Must have stiffer sidewalls or something.
Anyway, I'll not be splashing out on anything new until the trusty Toyos are
a bit closer to the canvas.

It sounds like you guys are making some progress, i'll sit on the side and
read
with interest - nothing better than to drive a car to figure a problem (:-
I
didn't think G skids were supposed to be that good but i've never had them
on a
510 only driven a Fairlane Sportsman (tank) with them (huge size ~235/60x15)
which is prolly not a good test but it had konis all round and i found them
noisy although reasonably predictable in the dry. Toyos/510 are hard all
round
combination to beat on the track, but maybe it's time for us to have a
change
Pete.
