Geoff,
Sound like a problem we had on a 1600 rally car up north try blowing back threw
your fuel line with compressed air from where it connects on to your
carbie(remove fuel cap to do this) and replace your fuel filter if you have not
already
check the fuel lines for kinks or any any damage at all.
my guess any way.
