I run 240K fronts and next size up slave cylinders on the rear, a 15/16"
M/cyl (wrecker said it was a 200b, but apparently is a 240C) and no booster.
Pedal is great, not much travel and quite positive.
Last year I had a booster, but not connected as it leaked and was pointless.
I also had a junction block, fronts one in two out, rears one in one out
standard setup. Except this block was also a proportioning valve. At 60kph
on dirt with 28psi in the rally tyres I couldn't stop in a reasonable
distance, front wheels locked causing a major pain in the ass. To
temporarily fix the problem I lowered the pressures to 25 then 20 then 18,
I didn't want to go any lower, bending rims is easy enough at 25psi. Since
I removed the proportioning block, which I didn't know was a proportioning
block at the time of install(it came with the booster and m/cyl) I haven't
had a problem, I run the same tyres up around 30psi and can now stop on a
dime.
Remember the smaller the m/cyl the easy the pedal will be to push, but
further to travel , the larger the m/cyl the harder it will be to push but
not as far.

Subject: Crappy brakes
Hi Listers
240 K twin piston callipers, 180b Bendix booster, 7/8" Sanyco
M/cyl
We have had a crappy brake pedal - it has felt 'half' boosted ie
you could push 'through' the booster to feel a higher pressure.
Round town planned stops required only the big toe on the boosted
section (would never lock the brakes). The unplanned/major stops
definitely required max effort, push through the boosted section
to directly activate the m/cyl. I have not been able to bleed or
adjust this out of the booster, m/cyl pushrods for some reason.
The factory driver, my son, now wants to remove the booster.
Partly because he sees the booster being 'to easy' to lock up in
the panic stop and partly to resolve the real issue of crappy
pedal.
Ssoooo any thoughts on this........
Does anybody have experience with running 240K brakes UN Boosted?
What size m/cyl reduces/improves pedal feel??
Ta
Colin
