Christie,
Check these items in order:-
1. Universal joint condition both joints
2. Shaft runout (straightness)
3. Shaft balance
4.Drive line angles.
In a conversion the drive shaft front uni angle is often incorrect if there
is a vibration as you describe. The most common cause is trying to fit a
box with out cutting the tunnel and the rear of the box being to low. This
means the input angle to the shaft will be too small and not match the
pinion shaft angle.
Cheers
Feral Errol

Subject: SR20DET - Vibrations
Date: Monday, July 10, 2000 12:57
Hi all,
Need help from you guys again.
Recently completed a SR20DET transplant into a 710.
Eveything went well except for some vibration problem
occuring during 3rd and 4th at about moderate cruising
speed (40mph). Its kind of like changing to a higher
gear before reaching an appropriate speed:(
I found out that the motor originally is driving an
automatic gearbox, while now I had a manual gearbox
attached to it. Is the vibration due to a non matching
clutch cover? Is there any difference between a automatic
gear setup against a manual gearbox setup?
Could it be an imbalance long shaft problem? Would replacing
the mouting rubbers help?
Need URGENT help b'coz the vibration is drumming into
my head and I don't want it to cause any other damage to
the already aging 710 shell.
Thank You everyone.
Christie.
