Craig,
By making it smaller you keep the air at higher pressure and have less lag
but have a little more frictional loss. With a larger diameter you get less
frictive losses but more volume so more lag. I opt for smaller to the
intercooler if given the choice.
Cheers

Subject: Intercooler pipes
List,
I am in the middle of plumbing in my intercooler and have recieved various
advice about what diameter pipe to use from the compressor outlet. Basically
i dont know if keeping air velocity high (small diameter) is better than
reducing friction loss for slower air speed. I am using this car as a daily
so i dont want it to be heaps laggy but i also have 3" inlet on the
intercooler and a 2" outlet from the comp so it has to get larger at some
stage just cant decide on early or later.
Any help appreciated
Craig
