All,
I only have experience with Bluebirds and Stanzas,
both have this system.
There are two bolts on the G/box X-member for the bracket you describe. 
There is a rubber isolator arrangement so that the exhaust is not hooked up directly 
to the body

I used some flexible bellows in my custom 2-1/4 exhaust to stop that kind of vibration 
etc...
