Andrew,

Wow. The bloke who came up with the design of that engine must have been
really eccentric.
As they say in the Hahn light ad, "that is art"! It must have been a pain to
rebuild. Was it hard to get the three crankshafts synchronised?

Regards
Trev

Talking about strange motors i used to build and test napier deltics for a
living. These things have 3 cranks setup in a triangular configuration with
18 cylinders and 36 pistons. They were an opposed piston centrifugally
supercharged 2 stroke diesel. For a big engine they used to scream and were
super smooth. With the fuel racks wide open in an ungoverned state i cuold
get double the factory rpm and hp.They had no flywheel only small dampers on
the cranks and from idle could spin to 4000rpm and return to idle in less
that 2 seconds. PTF Napier Deltic Engines

sounds like these.

BRM built a supercharged 1488cc V16 for F1 which could put out about 480bhp
at 12,000 rpm and this was back in the 1950's. It was like two V8's, one on
top of the other with a common crank. The V is very shallow and it almost
looks like boxer. The pistons must have been tiny! Eddie Rattley

Didn't suzuki make a 1.6L V8 that was meant for a production sports car?
Did that ever come out? I think it was a twin turbo too.
