Brad and list, On the subject of bore flex in alloy blocks.
Does anyone know about how the variables of cylinder wall thickness, bore size and stroke effect block integrity. 1. I sort of understand the basics ie the thicker the cylinder wall then the stronger. 2. I'm not sure on how bore size relates to this. ie if bore size is increased in diameter and cylinder wall stays the same then is the strength decreased? 3. Obviously if you increase the stroke while keeping cylinder wall thickness the same then there would be more flex. Any technical guru's out there know the maths to determine whether an engine can survive a certain rpm/HP if all the dimensions and material properties are known? Thanks Trev P.S.
