Rotaries are very simple to pull down and rebuild, but the problems come in when you need to replace some of the main parts. If you only replace the apex seals, oil control seals and water seals then the cost isnt going to be any thing huge. If you need to replace rotors or housings or end plates then the cost really sky rockets! But then again its not much different to replacing a block or a set of forged pistons really. People often go on about the cost of rotory rebuilds and yes they can be expensive, but you dont rebuild an RB26DETT cheaply either! Go and price a set of forged pistons for that?
Unforntunately those that dont want to believe will never believe till they bight their tongue and roll up their sleeves and have a go! But thats just my view!!
