Hello Andrew,

Go right now and right down everything you remember about the event,
where you were when you pulled up, where the cop walked arround your
car, what he said, how you responed, where you were standing as you
were talking, events leading up to the incident. If you look at the
regulations and find that the cop did anything even the smallest bit
wrong then the car is yours. If there was no smoke, then I think you
might be able to say that the marks were not yours. A good driving
record would certainly help.
