Jim,Not on 240K struts but I have seen one in Sydney that's supposed to have 180SX struts with ground control coil overs, it was featured on the SSS website for a while - very exy conversion that.Master to suit that sort of setup - I'd probably start with a 7/8" or 180SX 15/16" - I'd have to do some math to work it out i.e. it would be helpful to know the piston area.performance Superlights were on the 1600 that I've seen - very sweet wheels. The blue 1600/FJ was in a 4's mag a year or so back - the car was his grandmothers if I recall correctly. My oldest played soccer against him and I was out spectating at Tuggas and spotted it in the car park.regardsTerry-----Original Message-----

Have you ever seen alooy 4spots from a 300zx/GTST skyline on a set of 240k struts?
On a 1600 of course?
A guy here in Canberra is running them on his race car. I was gonna copy the design but alas my calipers are 30mm as opposed to his 25mm. I need a different rotor etc
Anyway i was wondering what sort of cylinder you think would suit these as fronts along with r31 rears?
Also do you know of a 14inch or 15inch rim with a good offset, i.e raised centre to suit wider calipers such as these.
lastly the blue fj20 1600 you mentioned,......is that the ones with gold rims featured in fast fours?
cheers

Andrew,
The correct size cylinder depends on what brake components you are using and
it is fairly uniform across all 1600 models - boosted and un-boosted
doesn't/shouldn't affect brake performance or efficiency as such, only
driving ease etc. Pad quality/compound makes a massive difference as well.
I'll give you some common known good combinations to help you choose the
correct master cylinder for your 1600. These examples are only to be used as
a guide based upon data I've collected on this subject over a number of
years. I've driven 1600's with most if not all of these combinations and in
the main they were all quite acceptable performance wise and all except the
180SX example weren't all that expensive either. The 180SX/R31 combo was
brilliant and is in a well known Blue 1600/FJ20ET here in Canberra.
stock discs/drums - 3/4" Tokico or (13/16"! ! Nabco, must use prop valve or at
least use 1200 rw cyl)
200B disc/drums or R31 discs - 13/16" Nabco or Tokico boosted, must use prop
valve with drums, optional with R31, Nabco is the best cylinder.
240K twin spot/drums or R31 disc - 13/16" or 7/8" boosted and/or un-boosted
(must use prop valve with drums, optional with R31, doesn't seem to be a lot
of difference between Nabco or Tokico in 7/8")
Audi 90 ventilated/R31 - 13/16" boosted
180SX twin spot ventilated/R31 disc - 7/8" un-boosted (must use prop valve)
Mitsubishi ventilated, VL Turbo callipers/R31 - 13/16" or 7/8" boosted (prop
valve optional)
Holden ventilated with Volvo 4 spot/Volvo with Volvo 2 spot - 7/8"
un-boosted (this one was mine, FJ20ET Sport Sedan (083) that was a Group G
rally beater when the brakes were done, you never see this combo around
these days but I threw it in anyway)

Terry

Hi Terry,
Im thinking of getting a few master cylinder sizes from the wrecker
and trialling them out to find the "best" one - which couple of sizes
would you suggest I should pick up?
Thanks
Andrew
