Yes the L16 and L18 motors have the same block height, the L20 is about 20mm higher and therefore needs a slightly different set of extractors. because i plan to change up to a l18 and im not keen on changing my exhaust as it is allready sufficient (2.5eng-muff/3'-tip) You dont need to change your whole exhaust system, all you need to do is get the exhaust shop to effectively connect the extractors to the current system. As i say it's normally about $30 or $40 to get em to do that.
