L18's can be taken out to almost 2 litres with crankshaft mods and a big bore.

If you go even further with the crankshaft mods you can get an L18 block out to 2.15 litres.  This mod requires a profiled plate on top of the block (like a decompression plate) and sleeves in the enlarged bores to allow the pistons to move up into the plate area. The rod angles get pretty wild and you need to grind relieves into the inside of the block to allow the rod bolts sufficient clearance.  Les Collins can build one of these. It will go hard for a reasonable time and costs around $12000.  Is this in your price range?

Subject: How Much?

Hey list, how much is the biggest anyone has bored the L18 'W' block out to? I'm not sure who it was but one of you guys was talking about a factory rally motor based on the L18, that was out to 1900cc?.  This week the machining starts, so please reply ASAP.

        Cheers in advance Craig
