The best way to see how much life is left in it is to undo the motor wire
off the solonoid and then remove the two brush box retaining screws from the
rear housing followed buy the two through bolts.  Once this is done then
just lift the end cap off followed buy the field body.  With the field body
off the brushes will sit right down into the slots and you will see how much
more wear you have in comparison to the armature diameter.  If there worn
out you will see pit marks on the brush surface and possibly on the armature
also.  If this is the case just take the field body with the brush box still
on down to your nearest sparky and have him solder on new ones as this will
be the cheapest method of repair.  Note check the bearings on the armature
also as these spin at incredible rpm's.  Let me know how you go.
