Adam,

It certainly looks like the starter is stuffed. What surprises me is that
that type of starter is on a SR turbo in the first place. Most other
Nissans, even older type turbos like the FJ use an eccentric type starter
which are far superior to the slider type. I haven't a clue what fits what
as far as SR's go. Could be someone else on here knows what your options
are.

Are you on the SR Transplants list? - I can ask for you over there if you're
not. Like most other Nissan engines there are probably good lower cost
solutions to get you on the move again.
