Manufacturers have to weigh up performance vs reliability in thier
cars, after all they have to service warranty claims, so it is
reasonable that in some cases there could be benefits in rechipping an
NA motor. One example that I have heard of is in Camiras, the first
map used when the 2 litres were released was revised for reliability
issues - the next release had less aggressive fuel and ignition maps,
loosing power, but saving warranty claims.
