Thanks andrew,
I did think I had a 12a exhaust housing but I am not so sure now. It is
not the same turbo as I saw in a picture on the net taht is of a supposed
12a turbo!! It is still a hitachi turbo.I'll
take it back to bill tomorrow and see what he says. I would prefer to use
the larger exhaust wheel but fitting it in would mean taking a rim of meat
out of the housing near the tip of the exhaust wheel. but I can see it
would still work! Heath,
see above :) I have
the digital camera here now so I will take some pictures and post them
tomorrow. Both wheels are very similar design, just the smaller wheel tapers
away more and clears the housing. zac

If you want to use the 12a exhaust housing then someone like bill
keen at ats should be able to machine your housing to suit the 13b turbine
wheel.Should cost no more than $100.You should see over 200rwhp at 15psi
if you can keep the fuel up to it.A mate has just fitted a -14 V trim comp
wheel into one of these turbos and has run low 11's on 12 psi.

Hey
Andrew, it is a series 5 rx7 turbo. the local turbo place got the turbo
off for a fair fee :( they used the oxy torch method! But now I have the
problem of my exhaust housing not fitting on the rx7 turbo! the rx7 exhaust
wheel is way too big. Can I swap the old wheel onto this turbo myself or
does it need to be rebalanced? What socket do I use, the nuts are odd!
It looks like that would be the way to make it all happen. The rx7 turbo
spins about 5 times more easily than my old turbo!cheers, zac

I laughed as soon as i saw the stripe.Just like the black one i got
for $50.But at least this one isnt painted in house paint.
Depending on the type of turbo the exhaust housing goes onto a bit
of a taper and has a heat shroud between the housing and the cartrige.Ive
only ever had to spray some wd40 then hit the ex housing with a hamer whilst
holding the cartrige in my hand.I always use some never sieze on the bolts
and housing when assembling them.

what is it with you and cheap 1600s with stripes!!!
also do you have any tips for getting an exhaust housing off? I've got
a new
turbo and the housing is stuck on. It is currently doused in WD40,
hopefully
that will help it off tomorrow morning.
